English is the main language in medicine, medical science and the pharmaceutical industry. This course aims to improve the oral and written English skills of, e.g. doctors, nurses, chemists, biologists, physiotherapists and laboratory technicians.
Course content will be tailored to reflect the participants’ specific workplace situations. From the start of the course we will analyse their written work to address grammatical and structural issues. In a non-threatening setting, participants will be encouraged to practice expressing themselves in English in writing and when speaking and making presentations through a mix of group exercises and simulated communication situations, supplemented by relevant grammar games, useful vocabulary, and pronunciation practice.
A certain amount of text checking and individual feedback on articles can be included in the course, for instance 90 or 120 minutes per participant.
The course is for researchers and practitioners in the medical field who already have a fairly high level in English.
We recommend a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 participants per group.
The course can be arranged according to your requirements, for instance with 6 sessions of 3 hours or 10 sessions of 2 hours and 15 minutes.
About 10 days before the start of the course each participant will be asked to submit a text of up to 1,000 words in English.
