Writing Scientific Papers in English

The Course

The purpose of this course is to improve the participants’ skills in writing scientific papers in English. We will review the requirements for writing scientific papers and teach the participants how to write better papers.

Content

We will analyse the participants’ written work and prepare practical exercises to enable them to improve their current and future scientific articles in English. A major part of the course will consist of individual work by the participants on a scientific paper of their current interest. We will focus on the title, the abstract and the structure of your scientific paper. We will teach grammatical subjects when required. As the course progresses, each participant’s problems will be discussed and solutions will be shared in class and in groups. During the course the teacher will spend up to 90 minutes per participant on text amendments.

Target Group

This course is for scientists and research students who already have some experience in writing scientific papers in their native language and who have a fairly high level in English.

Number of Participants

We recommend a maximum of 12 participants per group.

Duration

This is a 30-lesson course with 3 lessons of 45 minutes per session.

Requirement

About 10 days before the start of the course each participant will be asked to submit a text of up to 1,000 words in English.
