Oxford Placement Test
Introduction
AIS Sprog offers all new students of English the Oxford Placement Test to assess their English language skills. The result of the test allows us to better organise our teaching and to place students of a similar level together in groups.
The test is 100% online and designed for use on any device so test takers can take it at home, at work or at any other place.
Registration
To register you for the test, we require the following information:
- First name
- Last name
- Email address
Before taking the test
Soon after we have registered your information, you will receive an email from Oxford University Press, which shows until when the test is available.
The test should take you no longer than 73 minutes to complete. Most test takers spend around 40 minutes. All tests are timed, with an on-screen timer visible during the test.
Please note that you can take the test only once, and that you should not use any external aids or receive assistance from others while taking the test.
The test consists of two sections:
- Use of English
- Listening
The first part assesses the test taker’s knowledge of grammatical form and vocabulary, and the second part the test taker’s general listening ability.
When you have completed part 1 (Use of English), please proceed immediately to part 2 (Listening). The test usually consists of 30 questions in part 1 and 15 questions in part 2.
If you cannot answer a question, we recommend that you do not spend too much time on it – try to answer as best you can and continue to the next question.
To begin the test
Please adjust the volume on your device so that you can easily hear the recordings in the listening part of the test.
Before being able to enter and start the test, you’ll need to register first.
At the beginning of the test, you will be asked to choose which level best reflects your current abilities. However, the level you select is only the starting point. If your answers demonstrate a higher or lower level of competency, the test will automatically adjust the difficulty and adapt the questions according to your answers.
Test results
Once you have completed the test, you will be able to see your scores for the two parts of the test and your overall score by clicking on the “Results” tab at the top of the screen.
From AIS Sprog, you’ll receive a “Report Card” either in print or by email.
